After

Post-Lockdown landscapes by Mike Roberts

Mike is a landscape painter and this will be his first show after lockdown.

"I am very excited to be exhibiting at the The Art Dresser in August 2020. This will be my first show after the lockdown and as with everything it seems in our world it has all changed.

I am very lucky to live with my partner in a small isolated cottage near Edenbridge, so consequently the lockdown was a different experience to many people in the UK. We immediately expanded or vegetable garden and made preparations to continue our jobs at home.

As an artist I bathed in the new found extra time and threw myself into painting, it being April Bluebells were out and I had access to nearby beautiful woods nearby. However as the lockdown went on my work became more and more introspective until it was announced we could go out for exercise for unlimited time, it was then that I ventured out to the rolling hills of mid Kent and the heat way which was May 2020. Since then I have meet up with fellow artists, compared notes on materials and techniques and slowly got the creative car back on the road.

As the summer evenings promise warm days and tobacco fields scorched to a tinder the garden is a jungle and I prepare to return to the countryside I love."
